Hey folks, I’ve been working on a project that involves testing smart home devices, and it’s been eye-opening how much goes into it. I always thought once a smart thermostat or a connected doorbell gets built, that’s kind of it. But turns out, smart home device QA is a whole thing on its own.
There’s way more to it than just checking if the device turns on and connects to WiFi. You’ve got to make sure it works with different ecosystems like Alexa, Google Home, and even older setups. And when you throw in things like app connectivity, firmware updates, voice commands, and regional compatibility, it gets wild fast.
I came across this company that does QA specifically for smart home products (here’s the link if anyone’s curious:

So I’m wondering if anyone here has worked on smart home testing or hired a service for it. What was your experience like? What should someone new to this look out for? Would love to hear your stories or tips.
